{"id":663,"date":"2017-09-13T10:08:23","date_gmt":"2017-09-12T23:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/parablog-wordpress.dockerbox.rei.moe\/?p=663"},"modified":"2017-09-13T10:09:08","modified_gmt":"2017-09-12T23:39:08","slug":"setting-up-rtl-sdr-in-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.lewys.eu\/?p=663","title":{"rendered":"Setting up RTL-SDR in 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Years back I discovered RTL-SDR, that used very cheap USB TV tuners to run Software Defined Radio applications.<\/p>\n<p>Back then I found it super easy to setup,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You just download &#8216;SDR#&#8217; and run the installer, then you&#8217;re good to go!<\/p>\n<p>More recently though, AirSpy selling their own SDR products, I recall having more difficulty setting it all up..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So let&#8217;s give it a shot here today.<\/p>\n<p>Heading over to the <a href=\"http:\/\/airspy.com\/download\/\">AirSpy downloads page<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I downloaded the &#8216;Windows SDR Software Package&#8217; which seems to be similar to the old version, containing SDR#, ADSB Spy etc.<br \/>\nThis downloaded a familiar looking sdrsharp-x86.zip file<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/chrome_2017-09-13_08-40-24.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-664\" src=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/chrome_2017-09-13_08-40-24.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"237\" height=\"53\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Extracting this zip gives a familiar folder structure, with an install-rtlsdr.bat file, perhaps it hasn&#8217;t changed much after all? I did a frequency correction of 3ppm and got it centered on a carrier wave.<br \/>\nIm now able to use this to identify which frequencies are in use around 500mhz so that I can fix up some wireless microphones that are complaining about interference!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It was much easier than last time.
