This is pretty cheap for a mechanical board.&nbsp;<br \/>\nAfter feeling the switches for a bit I can see why.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re inconsistent, some of them just don&#8217;t register sometimes, and the only option i had was tactile clicky blue.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Luckily they&#8217;re imitating cherry mx switches, so I can replace them!<br \/>\nThis begins the adventure of desoldering 87leds and switches!<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-2114141723jpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-2114141723jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-395 alignnone size-full\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2667\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-194968673jpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-194968673jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-396 alignnone size-full\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1500\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-1583049813jpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-1583049813jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-397 alignnone size-full\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2667\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After about 45 minutes of desoldering and emptying the solder pump, I had managed to replace 13 switches!<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-1277188190jpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-1277188190jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-398 alignnone size-full\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2667\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also worth noting, the controller is discrete from the PCB, and has the rows and columns labeled!<\/p>\n<p>It could easily be removed and replaced for a full custom firmware board!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-29267283jpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-image-29267283jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-399 alignnone size-full\" width=\"2000\" height=\"2667\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I plan to do the top row next and work my way down the board from there.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-1472252882413.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/172.16.0.6:8683\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-1472252882413.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-400 alignnone size-full\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.lewys.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-1472252882413.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/blog.lewys.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-1472252882413-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.lewys.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/wp-1472252882413-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll update this post or make a new one when I&#8217;ve made more progress!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I picked up this keyboard for about $30, + $10 or so for shipping.
